RENAULT BRIDGER
Renault recently revealed a concept version of its new subcompact SUV, but the company has already confirmed that the vehicle will enter production soon. The final production model is expected to retain most of the concept’s design. Manufacturing will begin in India, and from there the crossover will be exported to several global markets.
The announcement was made alongside Renault Group’s strategic plan, called futuREady, during which the company previewed multiple upcoming vehicles. While other new models—such as Renault’s European debut and a future model under the Romanian brand Dacia—will be discussed separately, this article focuses on the new Renault Bridger compact SUV designed primarily for emerging markets.
The concept is scheduled to become a production vehicle next year, and the final version is expected to closely resemble the show car. There is also a possibility that the production model will keep the Bridger name. India will serve as the first market for the SUV, where it will sit between the Renault Kiger and the next-generation Renault Duster in the brand’s lineup. Vehicles produced in India will later be exported to regions such as Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East.
EXTERIOR
The Renault Bridger is built on the RGMP small platform, Renault’s updated name for the CMF-B architecture. The SUV has a rugged, off-road-inspired design with a boxy body, large bumpers, wide wheel arch cladding, and a rear door carrying an externally mounted spare wheel. The front features angled LED daytime running lights, while the taillights follow a similar pattern. Instead of the traditional Renault logo, the front grille displays the brand name. The concept rides on 18-inch wheels.
Its overall length stays under four meters, a key requirement for tax benefits in the Indian market. Other exact dimensions have not yet been revealed.
INTERIOR
Renault has not released official images of the interior. However, the company states that the Bridger will offer a very spacious cabin along with a 400-liter cargo capacity.
POWERTRAIN
Depending on the market, the production version of the Renault Bridger will be offered with multiple powertrain options, including a traditional internal combustion engine, a hybrid setup, and a fully electric version. For now, these are the only official details available about the upcoming SUV.
