BYD Unveils Seal 08 Flagship Sedan with Advanced Technologies

BYD, the world’s largest manufacturer of new energy vehicles, has officially introduced its latest large sedan, the Seal 08, during the launch event of its Blade Battery 2.0 in China. Positioned as the company’s flagship sedan, the Seal 08 showcases several of BYD’s newest technologies, including a megawatt supercharger, second-generation Blade batteries, rear-wheel steering, and the advanced DiSus-A intelligent body control system.

EXTERIOR

The design of the Seal 08 follows the styling language of the Ocean-S concept car, featuring a sleek and futuristic front fascia. The vehicle uses a closed grille design combined with slim LED daytime running lights and a wave-inspired pattern underneath. Two air intakes integrated into the front bumper house headlights with a distinctive starlight effect. Additionally, the roof is equipped with LiDAR sensors that support the vehicle’s advanced driver-assistance and safety systems.

At the rear, the Seal 08 adopts a sporty fastback profile with ocean-inspired flowing lines and stylish taillights. The sedan rides on multi-spoke 19-inch wheels fitted with 245/45 R19 tires, enhancing its premium and dynamic appearance.

DIMENSION

In terms of size, the BYD Seal 08 measures 5,150 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,505 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,030 mm. These dimensions suggest a spacious and comfortable cabin, although BYD has not yet revealed details of the interior design.

POWERTRAIN

The Seal 08 is built on an 800-volt high-voltage platform and powered by BYD’s second-generation Blade battery. This setup is expected to deliver an impressive electric driving range of over 1,000 km. The vehicle also supports Flash Charging technology, enabling it to gain approximately 400 km of range with just a 5-minute charge.

For the all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant, the Seal 08 is expected to produce more than 480 kW of power (around 644 horsepower). This allows the sedan to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds, highlighting its strong performance capabilities.

Beyond power and range, the Seal 08 includes advanced chassis technologies such as rear-wheel steering for improved agility and the DiSus-A intelligent body control system for enhanced stability and comfort. The vehicle also features BYD’s God’s Eye B (DiPilot 300) advanced driver-assistance and safety system.

BYD confirmed that the Seal 08 is expected to launch in the Chinese market in the second quarter of this year. Earlier, in December 2025, the company introduced the “Ocean 8 Series Dual Flagship” lineup, which includes the Seal 08 and the Sealion 08. Following the debut of the Seal 08, the Sealion 08 is also expected to be unveiled in the near future.
