Ferrari Amalfi Spider Convertible
Ferrari has been officially unveiled as the open-top version of the Amalfi Spider Convertible. The new model adopts a soft-top convertible roof while maintaining the elegant styling and design language of the coupe. Positioned as an entry-level Ferrari with a front-mid-mounted V8 engine, the Amalfi Spider features a 2+2 seating layout, continuing the tradition of Ferrari’s grand touring sports cars such as the Ferrari 456 GT, Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, and Ferrari FF.
Exterior Design
The Amalfi Spider retains Ferrari’s distinctive single-bar front grille design, which stretches across the front fascia. The headlights are subtly integrated into the grille and house slim LED daytime running lights, giving the front end a sleek and cohesive appearance. The front bumper features a continuous cooling vent, while the front lip spoiler increases aerodynamic downforce.
With its front-mid-engine V8 layout, the Amalfi Spider adopts Ferrari’s long L113 body structure, resulting in elegant proportions and a stretched silhouette. When the soft top is lowered, the car displays a yacht-like stance, emphasizing both luxury and sportiness.
Ferrari has optimized the convertible roof mechanism, allowing it to open or close in just 13.5 seconds and operate at speeds of up to 60 km/h. When folded, the soft top measures only 220 mm thick, helping maximize cargo capacity. The trunk offers 255 liters of space with the roof closed and 172 liters with the roof open. The addition of the convertible mechanism increases the car’s weight by 80 kg, bringing the dry weight to 1,556 kg.
In terms of size, the Amalfi Spider measures 4,660 mm in length, 1,974 mm in width, and 1,305 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,670 mm.
Rear Styling and Aerodynamics
At the rear, the convertible mechanism creates a platform-style deck design, which maintains smooth body lines even when the roof is folded. A strong shoulder line flows toward the rear fenders, emphasizing the car’s wide stance and muscular profile.
The car features quad four-segment taillights for enhanced visibility. The rear bumper is constructed from carbon fiber and houses quad exhaust outlets along with a centrally positioned rear diffuser. An active aerodynamic system is also included, featuring a three-mode rear wing and a one-touch integrated wind deflector, significantly improving stability and comfort during open-top driving.
Interior and Technology
Inside, the Amalfi Spider features a 15.6-inch fully digital instrument cluster paired with a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, creating a modern and driver-focused cockpit. The center console houses a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display, while the control panel features retro-style metal gearshift levers and a dedicated slot for Ferrari’s rectangular car key.
Like many current Ferrari models, the Amalfi Spider uses a dual cockpit layout, separating the driver and passenger areas. The passenger side includes an 8.8-inch display, allowing occupants to monitor vehicle performance and driving information in real time.
Despite being a convertible sports car, the Amalfi Spider retains the 2+2 seating arrangement. While rear seating space is limited, it maintains the grand touring essence expected from Ferrari’s GT models.
Performance and Driving Technology
Even in convertible form, performance remains a key focus. The Amalfi Spider features a brake-by-wire braking system and a new generation ABS Evo controller, capable of adapting braking performance to various road conditions.
The car is also equipped with a Level 2 driver-assistance system for enhanced safety and convenience. Ferrari has redesigned the exhaust system to comply with modern noise regulations while preserving the brand’s signature V8 soundtrack, which becomes even more engaging when driving with the roof down.
Engine and Performance
Powering the Amalfi Spider is Ferrari’s F154-series 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. After further optimization, the engine produces 640 horsepower and 760 Nm of torque. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Performance figures are impressive:
-
0–100 km/h: 3.3 seconds
-
0–200 km/h: 9.4 seconds
-
Top speed: 320 km/h
With its combination of luxury, advanced technology, and high-performance engineering, the Ferrari Amalfi Spider delivers an exhilarating open-top grand touring experience while maintaining the brand’s unmistakable character.
