Skoda is accelerating its electrification plans with the upcoming Skoda Epiq electric SUV, which is moving closer to production. Recently spotted undergoing testing with minimal camouflage, the prototype has revealed several design elements and technical details ahead of its global debut scheduled for 2026.
The test vehicle was seen in snowy conditions, offering a clear view of the compact SUV’s overall proportions. The Epiq is expected to play a key role in Skoda’s strategy to expand its electric vehicle lineup, positioned below larger models such as the Enyaq and Elroq. It is primarily aimed at urban buyers seeking an affordable and practical electric SUV.
Skoda has confirmed that the Epiq will be offered in three variants, all equipped with front-wheel-drive electric powertrains. The entry-level Epiq 35 produces 114 horsepower and 267 Nm of torque, achieving 0–100 km/h in around 11 seconds. The mid-range Epiq 40 delivers 133 horsepower, reducing the sprint time to 9.8 seconds. Both versions are powered by a 38.5 kWh battery pack, providing a driving range of approximately 315 km per charge. The flagship Epiq 50 offers significantly higher performance, generating 208 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque, with a 0–100 km/h time of 7.4 seconds. Its larger 55 kWh battery enables a maximum range of up to 430 km on a single charge.
Charging performance is also improved in the higher variants. With charging speeds of up to 133 kW, the Epiq 50 can charge from 10% to 80% in about 23 minutes, while the Epiq 40 requires approximately 28 minutes. The base Epiq 35 supports a lower maximum charging capacity of 50 kW.
The new electric SUV is built on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB+ platform, featuring a front-mounted motor layout that helps maximize interior space and cargo capacity. The vehicle measures 4,171 mm in length, 1,798 mm in width, and 1,581 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,601 mm, making it slightly smaller than the Kushaq currently sold in some markets.
Inside the cabin, the Epiq is equipped with a 5.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, combining modern technology with practical usability for everyday driving.
