Xpeng GX: New Large SUV With BEV and EREV Powertrain Options
Xpeng is expanding its SUV lineup with the introduction of the new Xpeng GX, a large premium SUV designed to combine spacious accommodation, advanced technology and multiple electrified powertrain choices. The new model is being offered in both fully electric and extended-range electric configurations, giving customers the option to choose between zero-emission driving and the added flexibility of a gasoline-powered range extender.
Pre-orders for the Xpeng GX officially opened on April 15. Both the battery-electric vehicle, or BEV, and extended-range electric vehicle, or EREV, versions have a starting price of 399,800 yuan.
The model is scheduled to make its first official public appearance at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show in China. With its large dimensions, premium interior and high-output electric powertrains, the GX represents Xpeng's move into a larger SUV category.
Large SUV Dimensions:
The Xpeng GX has been developed as a full-size SUV with substantial exterior dimensions. It measures 5,265 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width and 1,800 mm in height.
The SUV has a wheelbase of 3,115 mm, creating a long distance between the front and rear axles. This provides the foundation for a spacious three-row interior while also giving the GX a substantial road presence.
The extended wheelbase is particularly important for a large family SUV because it allows Xpeng to provide additional passenger space across all three rows while retaining useful interior flexibility.

Modern Electric SUV Exterior:
The exterior design of the Xpeng GX follows the latest styling direction associated with electric vehicles. Instead of a conventional radiator grille, the front end uses a largely closed design.
Slim LED headlights extend across the front section and incorporate a distinctive star-ring lighting signature. This lighting element gives the GX a recognizable appearance, particularly at night.
The side profile is relatively smooth, with character lines flowing from the front section toward the rear. Flush-fitting door handles contribute to the streamlined design while also helping reduce visual clutter.
The SUV is available in five exterior colors: Everest White, Polar Black, Fjord Grey, Danxia Red and Cloud Gold.
The combination of a large body, smooth surfaces and aerodynamic detailing gives the GX a modern appearance without relying on excessive exterior decoration.

Technology-Focused Interior:
Inside, the Xpeng GX adopts a wraparound cockpit layout designed around the driver and front passengers.
A two-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of the driver, while a large 17.3-inch floating display dominates the dashboard. The 3K-resolution screen serves as the central interface for infotainment and vehicle functions.
The interior also features Star Ribbon ambient lighting, which adds illumination throughout the cabin and contributes to the premium atmosphere.
The front seats are equipped with 16-way power adjustment. They also offer heating, ventilation and massage functions, providing several comfort features for longer journeys.
One of the most unusual features is the "Queen's Co-pilot" seat. This passenger seat can provide a zero-gravity seating position designed to improve comfort when the passenger wants to relax during a journey.
The seat also incorporates integrated seatbelt and airbag systems, combining the comfort-oriented seating position with occupant protection equipment.
Flexible Second and Third Rows:
The Xpeng GX is designed to provide a high level of flexibility for passengers in the second and third rows.
Second-row occupants have access to a fold-down entertainment display, providing an additional screen for rear passengers. A small utility table adds another practical feature, while magnetic accessory mounts can be used to hold compatible accessories in convenient locations.
The third row receives a particularly unusual seating feature. The rear seats can recline by up to 180 degrees, allowing the seating area to transform into a flat lounge-style space.
This arrangement can be useful when the vehicle is parked and occupants want to rest inside the cabin. It also demonstrates Xpeng's focus on making the interior more than simply a conventional three-row passenger compartment.
Interior color choices include Dawn White, Forest Mist Purple and Platinum Brown.

Extended-Range Electric Powertrain:
One of the major advantages of the Xpeng GX is the availability of two different electrified powertrain configurations.
The EREV version is designed for customers who want the driving characteristics of an electric vehicle while retaining the convenience of a gasoline-powered range extender.
This configuration uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that functions primarily as a generator. The engine itself produces 110 kW and works with a dual-electric-motor system.
The complete powertrain produces 210 kW, equivalent to approximately 282 hp.
Energy is stored in a 63.3 kWh battery pack. According to the supplied CLTC figures, the EREV version can travel up to 430 km using electric power alone.
When the battery and gasoline range-extender system are considered together, the claimed combined range reaches up to 1,585 km under CLTC testing.
This setup can provide an advantage for drivers who frequently travel long distances because the gasoline engine can generate electricity once the battery's available charge becomes low.
High-Performance Battery-Electric Version:
Customers who prefer a fully electric powertrain can choose the BEV version of the Xpeng GX.
The battery-electric model uses two electric motors, with each motor rated at 270 kW. Together, the system produces a claimed 724 hp.
This makes the BEV version considerably more performance-oriented than the EREV model.
Power is supplied by a large 110 kWh battery pack. According to the supplied CLTC testing figures, the fully electric GX offers up to 750 km of driving range.
The dual-motor configuration also provides the hardware necessary for all-wheel-drive capability and strong acceleration performance, although actual performance figures such as acceleration times depend on the final production specification.

BEV or EREV: Two Different Approaches:
The availability of both BEV and EREV powertrains gives the Xpeng GX a broader appeal.
The BEV version is aimed at customers who want a fully electric driving experience and have convenient access to charging infrastructure. Its 110 kWh battery and claimed 750 km CLTC range are designed to reduce the need for frequent charging on longer trips.
The EREV model takes a different approach. Its 63.3 kWh battery provides a substantial electric-only range, while the gasoline engine serves as a generator for longer journeys.
The two versions therefore target different driving requirements while sharing the same large-SUV platform and premium interior concept.
Beijing Auto Show Debut:
The Xpeng GX is scheduled to make its first official public appearance at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show. The event will give visitors an opportunity to see the new large SUV in production-ready form and learn more about its technology and equipment.
The opening of pre-orders on April 15 represents an important step toward the model's market launch.
