The new BYD Atto 3 was shown for the first time at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show in China.
BYD positions the new BYD Atto 3 as a third-generation model, introduced to strengthen domestic sales after recording 10,675 units in China—a 73.2% decline compared to the same period in 2025. Despite being labeled a new generation, the design remains largely unchanged from its predecessor.
EXTERIOR:
Up front, the BYD Atto 3 showcases BYD’s newest “Loong Face” styling, with sleek, angular headlights joined by a chrome strip for a striking look. A reworked bumper adds triangular corner vents and a bold trapezoidal central intake, giving it a sharper presence.
From the side, the 2026 BYD Atto 3 gets a modern touch with semi-flush door handles, a discreet camera tucked behind the front fender, and a choice of 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels. Up top, a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor enhances its suite of advanced driver assistance systems.
At the rear, the BYD Atto 3 sports fresh connected LED taillights with a rectangular layout and updated lighting signatures. A flatter tailgate, roof rails, and a redesigned rear bumper give it a cleaner, more modern look.
the BYD Atto 3 has grown in size. Positioned in the C-segment SUV category, it measures 4,665 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,770 mm. Compared to the previous generation, it is 210 mm longer, 20 mm wider, and 60 mm taller, while the wheelbase has increased by 50 mm.
Adding to its practicality, this Chinese EV offers a 101-litre front trunk and comes in a choice of six exterior colours.
INTERIOR:
the 2026 BYD Atto 3 offers a more spacious cabin. It comes equipped with a 16-speaker audio system, a built-in refrigerator with heating capability, and a power-operated tailgate. The interior also features a large central touchscreen, a digital LCD instrument cluster, a head-up display, and paddle shifters mounted behind a two-spoke steering wheel. Additionally, the centre console includes two wireless charging pads for smartphones.
POWERTRAIN:
In the Chinese market, the standard version of the 2026 BYD Atto 3 is equipped with a rear-mounted electric motor producing 200 kW (around 268 hp), paired with a 57.545 kWh LFP battery. It offers a driving range of up to 540 km on a full charge under the CLTC standard.
Meanwhile, the higher-spec version of the BYD Atto 3 features a more powerful 240 kW (322 hp) electric motor. It is paired with a larger 68.547 kWh battery, delivering a driving range of up to 630 km.
Notably, the 2026 BYD Atto 3 features BYD’s latest ultra-fast charging technology, enabling the battery to charge from 10% to 97% in just nine minutes—an impressive achievement in its segment. It also comes equipped with the DiPilot 300 driver assistance system using LiDAR sensors, along with a continuous damping system.
The pricing of the 2026 BYD Atto 3 in the Chinese market has yet to be announced. Following its debut in China, the model is expected to be introduced in international markets.
