BYD is marketing the new BYD Atto 3 as a third-generation evolution, hoping to revive domestic momentum after Chinese sales fell to 10,675 units down a steep 73.2% from the same period in 2025. Even with its next-generation positioning, however, the crossover retains a design language that stays very close to the outgoing model.

EXTERIOR:

At the front, the BYD Atto 3 adopts BYD’s latest “Loong Face” design language, featuring slim, angular headlights connected by a chrome trim element. A redesigned bumper incorporates triangular side vents and a prominent trapezoidal central intake, contributing to a more assertive appearance.

From the side, the 2026 BYD Atto 3 features semi-flush door handles, a small camera mounted behind the front fender, and a choice of 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels. A LiDAR sensor mounted on the roof supports its advanced driver-assistance systems.

The rear of the BYD Atto 3 receives a noticeable refresh, highlighted by new full-width LED taillights with a rectangular theme and updated light signatures. A flatter tailgate, integrated roof rails, and a redesigned bumper combine to give the crossover a sharper, cleaner, and more modern visual identity.

The 2026 BYD Atto 3 has grown noticeably, strengthening its presence in the competitive C-segment SUV category. The crossover now stretches 4,665 mm long, 1,895 mm wide, and 1,675 mm tall, riding on a 2,770 mm wheelbase. Relative to the outgoing model, it gains 210 mm in length, 20 mm in width, and 60 mm in height, while the wheelbase expands by 50 mm, promising a roomier footprint and stronger road presence.

Practicality is further boosted by a 101-liter front trunk, giving the BYD Atto 3 extra storage versatility. Buyers can also personalize the EV with a choice of six exterior paint finishes.

Inside, the 2026 BYD Atto 3 takes a clear step up in space and technology. The cabin packs premium touches such as a 16-speaker sound system, a built-in refrigerator with heating capability, and a power-operated tailgate. A large central infotainment display, digital instrument cluster, head-up display, and paddle shifters behind the two-spoke steering wheel create a distinctly high-tech atmosphere, while the center console adds convenience with two wireless smartphone charging pads.

POWERTRAIN:

In China, the standard 2026 BYD Atto 3 arrives with a rear-mounted 200 kW (268 hp) electric motor matched to a 57.545 kWh LFP battery, delivering up to 540 km of CLTC-rated range.

Stepping up to the higher-spec version brings a stronger 240 kW (322 hp) motor and a larger 68.547 kWh battery pack, boosting maximum range to an impressive 630 km.

One of the model’s biggest talking points is BYD’s newest ultra-fast charging capability. The system can reportedly replenish the battery from 10% to 97% in only nine minutes, setting a remarkable benchmark for the segment. The crossover also gains the advanced DiPilot 300 assistance package with LiDAR technology, complemented by a continuous damping suspension system for enhanced ride control.

Pricing for the Chinese market remains under wraps for now, although the updated Atto 3 is expected to make its way to global markets after its home-market launch.
