BYD Atto 3
The 2026 BYD Atto 3—known as the Yuan Plus in China—has been unveiled through registration documents submitted to the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). For the new model year, BYD has introduced significant updates, including a larger body and a shift to a rear-wheel-drive platform.
POWERTRAIN
The updated Atto 3 will be available exclusively in rear-wheel drive, offering two power outputs: 268 hp (200 kW) and 321 hp (240 kW). Both variants are powered by a new electric motor, codenamed TZ200XSBR, produced by Zhengzhou BYD Auto.
Powering the vehicle are LFP (lithium iron phosphate) batteries supplied by BYD’s FinDreams battery division. However, details regarding battery capacity and driving range have not yet been disclosed. According to MIIT data, the top speed is rated at 190 km/h. The model also introduces enhanced driver-assistance features, with additional systems available as optional extras.
DIMENSION
In terms of size, the 2026 Atto 3 has grown noticeably. It now measures 4,665 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,770 mm. This makes it 200 mm longer than its predecessor. The increase in dimensions translates to improved practicality, with boot space expanding to 490 liters, or up to 1,360 liters when the rear seats are folded. Additionally, the front trunk offers 101 liters of storage.
The exterior design has been refreshed with a redesigned front bumper, slimmer headlights, and new semi-recessed door handles. Buyers can choose between 18-inch and 19-inch wheels. At the rear, a full-width taillight strip enhances the modern look. Inside, the cabin features a subtly updated center console and vertically repositioned air vents for improved ergonomics.
The new BYD Atto 3 is expected to launch around mid-2026 and will continue to compete in the B+ SUV segment.
