BYD Atto 3

The 2026 BYD Atto 3, marketed as the Yuan Plus in China, has surfaced through registration filings submitted to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). For the latest model year, BYD has implemented notable changes, including increased dimensions and a transition to a rear-wheel-drive architecture.

POWERTRAIN

The revised BYD Atto 3 adopts a rear-wheel-drive-only setup, giving buyers a choice between 268 hp (200 kW) and 321 hp (240 kW) power outputs. Underpinning both variants is a newly developed TZ200XSBR electric motor, supplied by Zhengzhou BYD Auto.

The vehicle is powered by LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery packs supplied by BYD’s FinDreams battery division. However, specifications relating to battery capacity and driving range have not yet been announced. According to MIIT documentation, the model has a top speed of 190 km/h. It also introduces upgraded driver-assistance technology, with additional safety and convenience systems offered as optional equipment.

DIMENSION

In terms of dimensions, the 2026 BYD Atto 3 has grown considerably. The model now measures 4,665 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height, with a 2,770 mm wheelbase. Compared with its predecessor, it is 200 mm longer. The larger footprint also improves practicality, with cargo capacity increasing to 490 liters, expandable to 1,360 liters with the rear seats folded. In addition, the front trunk provides 101 liters of extra storage space.

The 2026 BYD Atto 3 adopts a sharper, more contemporary look thanks to a reworked front bumper, sleeker headlights, and newly introduced semi-flush door handles. Wheel choices include 18-inch and 19-inch designs, while a full-width rear light bar adds extra visual sophistication at the back.

Inside, the updates are more subtle but still meaningful, with a refined center console layout and repositioned vertical air vents designed to enhance everyday usability.

Scheduled to arrive around mid-2026, the updated BYD Atto 3 will remain a contender in the highly competitive B+ SUV category.
