SUZUKI ACROSS SUV
Suzuki has introduced the second-generation Suzuki Across in Europe, continuing its close relationship with the Toyota RAV4. This time, though, the SUV adopts an even more direct approach to badge engineering, looking almost identical to the RAV4 aside from Suzuki logos and branding details.
The Suzuki Across originally arrived in 2020 as a Europe-only version of the fifth-generation Toyota RAV4. Since then, Suzuki has used the Across name on a different model in emerging markets, but in Europe the badge lives on, now entering its second generation.
Design: A Familiar Yet Rugged Look
The latest European-spec Suzuki Across is now based on the sixth-generation Toyota RAV4, but this time Suzuki has leaned heavily into Toyota’s tougher off-road styling themes.
Rather than following the standard European RAV4 design, the new Across adopts the rugged look seen on overseas models like the Toyota RAV4 Woodland in the U.S. and the Toyota RAV4 Adventure in Japan. That means a chunkier front bumper, a bold central crossbar, and a grille with horizontal slats instead of the cleaner honeycomb-style grille used on regular European RAV4 models.
Dimensionally, the second-generation Suzuki Across measures 4,600 mm in length. This makes it slightly shorter than both the Toyota RAV4 Woodland at 4,623 mm and the Toyota RAV4 Adventure at 4,620 mm, although all three models share the same 2,690 mm wheelbase. For reference, the previous-generation Across measured 4,635 mm in length while retaining the identical wheelbase.
Interior & Technology
Inside, the cabin of the Suzuki Across closely mirrors that of the Toyota RAV4. The SUV is equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch central infotainment touchscreen. Key equipment features include:
-
Panoramic sunroof
-
Hands-free power tailgate
-
Head-up display
-
Wireless smartphone charging
-
Heated front seats
-
360-degree camera system
-
Adaptive cruise control
-
Automatic emergency braking
-
Lane-keeping assist and other advanced driver-assistance systems
Powertrain: Plug-In Hybrid Only
In Europe, the new Suzuki Across is offered solely as an all-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid. Borrowing directly from the Toyota RAV4 PHEV, the electrified setup combines:
-
A 2.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine
-
An electromechanical continuously variable transmission (e-CVT)
-
Two electric motors
-
A 22.7 kWh battery pack
The plug-in hybrid system delivers a combined output of 304 hp, providing the new Suzuki Across with strong performance while maintaining the efficiency benefits of electrified driving.
Pricing information and the official European launch schedule will be announced at a later date.
